Job summary

Veolia in North America is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to support water treatment operations under general supervision. You will monitor plant performance, backwash filters, and manage chemical feeds to maintain compliance.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and Rhode Island Class III Full Treatment License, with the ability to work overtime as needed. Safety and accuracy are essential in daily duties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• Familiarity with Laboratory processes, instruments, and chemical hygiene.
• Good knowledge and skill of pumps, motors, and other pumping station equipment and skill in their operation.
• Mechanical ability, accuracy, thoroughness, carefulness and good judgement and Ability to work alone, maintaining personal safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Checks treatment plant operation at frequent intervals to determine that all equipment is operating properly.
• Backwashes filters and adjusts controls when necessary.
• Maintains a supply of chemicals in the chemical feeders and checks on proper feeding.
• Reads meters, and maintains records on pumping, chemicals used, tank levels and flow rates.
• Performs chemical tests at specified intervals and records results.
• Ensures standards are met for compliance.
• Monitors and records readings at weather station.
• Cleans, adjusts and maintains treatment plant equipment.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.
