Job summary

Webb County is seeking a Supervisor to oversee day-to-day operations of a water treatment plant. The role directs operations, operates equipment, conducts sampling and analyses, and ensures compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, at least one year of related experience, and possess a state license for water or wastewater treatment. Bilingual English/Spanish abilities are valued for this position.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of related experience.
• Possession of a state-certified water or wastewater license.
• Ability to communicate in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Directs the day-to-day operations of the water treatment plant.
• Operates equipment to control water flow and maintain proper operating levels.
• Services, maintains, operates, and repairs facilities and equipment, including large-scale pumping equipment, chlorination and other chemical feed systems, storage facilities, and related equipment.
• Collects samples; performs laboratory analyses to ensure that treatment facilities are operating efficiently; supervises and carries out corrective actions.
• Trains, assigns, supervises, evaluates, and disciplines personnel.
• Makes rounds of plants; reads gauges and meters; records readings.
• Purchases equipment, materials, and supplies.
• Maintains maintenance and chemical analysis records; prepares logs, records, and reports, including required local, state, and federal reports.
• Prioritizes job assignments for subordinates.
• Responds to after-hours emergencies.
• Attends required training classes.
• Performs any other duties as assigned.
