The successful candidate will supervise shifts, ensure adequate chemical supplies, and contribute to safety and reporting requirements in a municipal water facility. This is a full-time, on-site position with city benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prefers associate degree or diploma from technical, business, or vocational school.
• Requires certification as a Grade A Water Plant Operator.
• Requires Physical-Chemical 1 certification.
• Requires Grade C Distribution certification.

Responsibilities

• Supervises plant operations and staff; assigns work and evaluates performance.
• Maintains staffing levels across shifts and coordinates with maintenance.
• Oversees plant maintenance and preventive maintenance program.
• Develops standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Ensures compliance with drinking water regulations and permit requirements.
• Coordinates pumping, storage, and zone management via SCADA.
• Assists with operator training.
• Submits state fluoride and operations reports; other reports as requested.
• Handles payroll, requisitions, scheduling contractors, and safety inspections.
