Job summary

Lake City, City of (FL) is seeking an on-site water treatment plant operator to assist in operating and maintaining facilities, collecting samples, and analyzing data to ensure safe drinking water.

Responsibilities include calibrating equipment, performing routine maintenance, maintaining logs, supervising trainees, and supporting the Chief Operator. The role requires attention to safety, accuracy, and the ability to work rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 3 years of experience in operation/maintenance of treatment plants.
• State of Florida Water Operators Certification (Class A/B/C) or in the process of obtaining.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Assist in operating and maintaining water treatment or water pollution control facilities and related maintenance.
• Calibrate and perform minor repairs on equipment as needed.
• Analyze and adjust plant processes, collect samples, and perform routine laboratory analysis.
• Maintain plant logs, water analysis records, and other computer data.
• Supervise subordinate trainees and other personnel; assist in training.
• Drive a vehicle and respond to public inquiries.
