Job summary

The City of Apopka seeks a skilled Water Plant Operator to oversee operation, monitoring, and maintenance of its water treatment and distribution facilities. Qualifications

• Ability to perform heavy manual labor and follow written instructions; maintain clear plant operation reports.
• Knowledge of safety hazards and precautions in a water plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and ground keeping of all water plants and routine equipment checks.
• Inspect, adjust and repair treatment plant equipment (pumps, valves, feeders, screens).
• Take samples and deliver them to reviewing agencies as required.
• Enforce safety standards and maintain plant records and reports for local/state/federal agencies.
• Interact with the public on occasion with patience and tact regarding complaints.
• Check water plant on weekends.
• May supervise trainees and perform other duties as assigned.
