Joint Municipal Water and Sewer Commission in Lexington, SC, seeks a Utility Technician II to perform skilled work on water and wastewater systems, including installation, repair and maintenance of lines, meters, hydrants and taps. The role requires safety awareness and the ability to work overtime or on-call as needed, with potential lead responsibilities for a small crew.

Responsibilities include operating light- to medium-equipment, responding to water/sewer problems, and assisting in program

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid South Carolina driver’s license required.
• Must know safety procedures and respond in emergencies.
• Knowledge of maintenance, repair and manual tasks in the area.
• Knowledge and safe use of hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and write.
• Utility Technician I: some field experience.
• Utility Technician II: non-licensed water/wastewater or heavy equipment experience.

Responsabilités

• Install, repair and maintain water/sewer lines, meters and related facilities; make line taps.
• Perform water and sewer line maintenance, repair, installation and replacement tasks.
• Install, replace and repair water and sewer lines, taps, hydrants, valves and meters.
• Raise and lower manholes and valve boxes; taps high-pressure lines.
• Connect water and sewer pipes to mains and service connections.
• Respond to sewer and water line problems.
• Prepare and maintain equipment and vehicles.
• Operate tap machine, dewatering pump, dump truck, utility truck, boring machine, jackhammer and related light and medium equipment.
• Work overtime and/or be on call.
• Perform related tasks as required.
• Act as a lead worker on a small crew (Utilities Technician II).
• Implement/administer special programs related to operational activities (safety, compliance).
