Job summary

American States Utility Services, Inc. seeks a team-oriented water and wastewater technician to support maintenance on military installations across the U.S.

The role involves supervised tasks, meter readings, and equipment operation to ensure safe, reliable water and wastewater services. You will inspect mains, lifts, and related assets, respond to service orders, coordinate with customers, and maintain paperwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must obtain state required water and/or wastewater training permits within 90 days if applicable.
• Must possess and keep current a valid Driver’s License issued by the state where employed.
• Must be able to obtain applicable Commercial Driver’s Permit within six months and Commercial Driver’s License within one year of hire date.
• Must take and pass Federal OSHA, US Army Corps of Engineers, and/or State Mandated Safety training, with annual refresher courses.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, perform water and wastewater system maintenance tasks.
• Inspect, repair, replace, test and certify water mains, services, meters, hydrants, backflow devices.
• Inspect, repair, replace sewer lines, manholes, and use video equipment for inspections.
• Monitor SCADA alarms, inspect lift stations, and ensure proper operation of pumps.
• Respond to service orders, mark infrastructure, and notify customers of outages.
• Develop skills in interpreting technical documents and maps; read meters manually or with automation.
• Operate heavy machinery and perform basic preventive maintenance.
• Complete work orders and paperwork accurately and timely.
