Job summary

County of Sacramento seeks a Water System Operator to support the operation, maintenance, and repair of water distribution and treatment facilities, including wells and booster stations. The role involves handling chemicals, managing hydraulic systems, and working with SCADA/CMMS software.

Responsibilities include following safety protocols, reading manuals and schematics, and performing field tasks independently when needed.

Qualifications

• Certification-based eligibility: Water Distribution Grade 1 (D1) and Water Treatment Grade 1 (T1) certificates must be possessed and maintained as described in the qualifications.
• Alternative qualifications include completion of a two-year mechanical–electrical program or two-year stationary engineer/plumbing apprenticeships.
• Experience definitions emphasize full-time paid work; volunteer work is not automatically accepted.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and repair water distribution and treatment facilities and related infrastructure.
• Manage chemical handling systems, hydraulic and hydro-pneumatic systems, and diesel generator operation.
• Read and follow manuals, schematics, and safety procedures; work independently in the field as required.
