Job summary

The City of Sacramento is seeking a Plant Operator to operate two T5 rated, multi-barrier surface water treatment plants and supporting facilities. You will monitor SCADA, adjust chemical feeds, and oversee pumping across the distribution system on a 5-4 schedule.

The ideal candidate has experience with SCADA systems, strong teamwork, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities to support various water and wastewater teams within the Department of Utilities.

Qualifications

• One year of progressively responsible experience in water operations.
• Valid California driver license is required at time of appointment.
• Proof of education and certifications may be required during appointment.
• Assignments may require wearing protective equipment and following safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform and interpret routine water quality tests and adjust chemical feeds accordingly.
• Operate and monitor the combined water/wastewater facilities on an assigned shift.
• Monitor SCADA and adjust flows, dosages and filtration rates as needed.
• Inspect equipment, respond to alarms, and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
• Maintain logs, support dewatering, groundwater, surface water and reservoir teams as needed.
