Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; millwright or machinist apprenticeship or technical program preferred.
• Familiarity with pumps, valves, and water treatment/distribution components.
• Proficiency operating machining tools, including lathes, mills, and grinders.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Knowledge of welding and fabrication techniques.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Attention to detail and quality.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and work in varying conditions.

Responsibilities

• Install, align, and maintain pumps, valves, motors, gearboxes, and other mechanical components in water systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance to ensure optimum performance and reduce downtime.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues, including disassembly and reassembly of parts.
• Operate lathes, milling machines, and other tools to fabricate/repair parts.
• Modify or customize components to meet operational needs.
• Weld and fabricate for infrastructure repair and reinforcement.
• Inspect systems for wear, corrosion, and performance issues.
• Test equipment after repairs/installation for reliability.
• Coordinate repairs with engineers and maintenance teams.
• Maintain clean/organized work areas to minimize hazards.
• Keep detailed maintenance records and inventories.
• Assist in training team members on machinery and safety.
