Job summary

Black & Veatch in Overland Park, KS invites college interns to join the Mechanical Engineering team within the Systems sub-discipline. You will support Water and Industrial Water projects through mechanical equipment and systems design, gaining hands-on experience across disciplines from concept through execution.

This internship emphasizes safety, collaboration, and real project impact. No experience required; current enrollment in an ABET‑accredited Mechanical or Chemical Engineering program

Qualifications

No experience required; current enrollment in ABET-accredited Mechanical or Chemical Engineering program.
Must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, MVR).

Responsibilities

Develop, evaluate, and design specifications and contract drawings
Perform variety of tasks to support engineering analyses, report production, and designs
Prepare basic calculations
Assist in basic equipment selection
Coordinate with other disciplines
Schedule project deliverables
Collect, organize, and evaluate data
Analyze systems utilizing computer modeling
Organize and file project materials and references
