Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Process Engineer Intern for wastewater projects in the Kansas City area. The role focuses on supporting design, evaluation, and optimization of municipal and industrial wastewater systems.

This is a full-time, internship position located in the office with hands-on opportunities across multiple projects. No prior experience is required, and current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Chemical or Mechanical Engineering program is expected.

Qualifications

• No experience required.
• Current enrollment in ABET accredited university in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering program.
• Strong interest in wastewater and infrastructure.
• Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support planning, design, evaluation, and optimization of municipal and industrial wastewater treatment systems, including biosolids and residuals management, nutrient removal, sludge and sidestream treatment, advanced treatment technologies, and emerging contaminant management (PFAS, microplastics, etc)
• Perform variety of tasks to support engineering analyses, report production, and designs
• Prepare basic calculations
• Assist in basic equipment selection
• Collect, organize, and evaluate data
