Job summary

The City of Tucson is seeking an Instrumentation and Control Technician to install, maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments across the water system. You will support remote sites, validate data, and ensure safe, compliant operation.

Responsibilities include servicing flow meters, level sensors, water quality monitors, and PLC/SCADA equipment, with attention to documentation, safety, and continuous improvement of performance.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required.
• Two years of relevant experience.
• Equivalency allowed year-for-year for education/experience.

Responsibilities

• Travel to city locations to maintain instrumentation and control devices.
• Perform routine maintenance and preventative checks on equipment.
• Calibrate instruments at water facilities for accurate readings.
• Conduct functional tests on PLCs, sensors and telemetry data; document results.
• Diagnose malfunctions in instrumentation and PLC control systems; perform repairs or updates.
