Job summary

City of El Paso is seeking a Water System Operator to operate, monitor and control potable water pumping and treatment equipment on a centralized SCADA system. You will turn wells on/off remotely, adjust flow valves and monitor pressures, reservoir levels and equipment status to meet production goals.

Responsibilities include coordinating daily water orders with Water Plant Superintendents, assisting field staff, responding to alarms and emergencies with other agencies, and maintaining records

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or higher.
• Two years of experience in well production field operations or monitoring automated computer controlled systems, or as a utility plant technician.
• Ability to interpret computer data concerning water pressures, production, reservoir levels and equipment status.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor and control water system equipment via central computer.
• Turn wells on and off remotely to maintain reservoir levels.
• Adjust flow control valves to balance reservoir water.
• Monitor water production and set points in SCADA.
• Coordinate daily water orders with Water Plant Superintendents.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with Fire Department and other agencies.
