Job summary

City of Tucson is seeking a Water System Operator to operate and monitor water treatment facilities and distribution networks. You will analyze real-time data, adjust chemical dosages, and ensure compliance with water quality standards.

The role involves driving to field sites, handling emergencies, and coordinating with staff across shifts. The position requires a valid Arizona driver license, two years of relevant experience, and ADEQ certification within 12 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years relevant experience in water treatment, distribution, or related operations.
• Valid and unrestricted Arizona Class D Driver License required.
• Must possess required ADEQ water certifications within 12 months of hire.
• Awareness of SCADA or telemetry systems is essential.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor water treatment facilities and distribution systems.
• Respond to SCADA alarms and adjust systems to maintain pressure and quality.
• Collect, test, and analyze water samples; adjust chemical feed rates as needed.
• Document events and communicate with field staff and other divisions.
• Attend to after-hours calls and coordinate with external utilities during outages.
• Work 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
