Job summary

Augusta Water is seeking a semi-skilled to unskilled worker for maintenance of sewer and water lines and construction of water and sewer services in Augusta County, Virginia. Tasks include excavating trenches, laying pipe, installing connections, and repairing lines with trucks and hand tools.

A Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement is required within 6–12 months, plus ability to communicate in English and perform basic math and mechanical tasks.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Must have at least two (2) years’ experience in heavy manual labor.
• Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing, read English, and understand directions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain sewer and water lines and construct water and sewer lines.
• Install new water and sewer services and related facilities.
• Excavate, clear and smooth trenches, lay pipe and make connections.
• Repair breaks in lines and install hydrants.
• Load/unload materials and clean up job site.
• Operate pickup trucks, dump trucks, and vacuum trucks.
• Use hand tools and perform tasks with minimum supervision.
