Job summary

Union County Water Department is seeking an entry‑level Utility Technician I to perform maintenance, locate lines, repair taps, flush hydrants and operate heavy equipment. The role includes on‑call duties and possible night shifts, with formal training and safety instruction provided.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, ability to obtain a Class A CDL within 12 months, and NC water/sewer certifications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must obtain Class A CDL within 12 months of hire.
• Ability to obtain NC water/sewer certifications and OSHA/flagger training.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preventative maintenance of equipment and facilities.
• Record PMs, work orders, and asset maintenance in the system.
• Operate and service water/sewer lines, hydrants, taps, and valves.
• Locate water/sewer lines and perform repairs or replacements as needed.
• Assist with CCTV inspection and jetting equipment.
• Follow safety policies and attend required safety trainings.
