Job summary

The Town of Spring Lake is seeking a Water/Sewer Maintenance Technician to perform skilled work in operation, maintenance, and repair of water distribution and wastewater systems. The position requires physical endurance, ability to operate heavy equipment, and readiness to respond to emergencies.

You will report to the Water and Sewer Supervisor within Public Works and help with testing, diagnostics, and documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of five years in public works or related field.
• Valid NC Class B CDL or ability to obtain within one year.
• NC Grade I Collection Certification or ability to obtain within one year.
• NC Class C Distribution Certification or ability to obtain within one year.
• Cross Connection Tester Certification or ability to obtain within one year.

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance, repair, and installation of water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
• Inspects lift stations for proper operation and reports maintenance or repair needs.
• Cleans and maintains lift station sites as required.
• Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of water and sewer systems.
• Clears blocked wastewater lines and assists with taps.
• Locates and marks facilities in response to NC 811 locate requests.
• Assists with system sampling and analysis requirements.
• Follows safety policies and reports hazards promptly.
