Job summary

The City of Johnson City is seeking a Water/Wastewater Service Worker to join the Water & Sewer Services Line Maintenance and Construction Division. The employee performs intermediate skilled mechanical work in installing, maintaining and repairing water lines, pumps, taps and mains in the water/wastewater system, under supervision.

Essential tasks include repairing lines, replacing frames and covers, installing meters and hydrants, repairing manholes, and operating core drilling machines

Qualifications

• General knowledge of plumbing-type equipment and maintenance.
• Ability to interpret maps and drawings related to tasks.
• Must maintain high safety standards and physical stamina.

Responsibilities

• Repair broken water/wastewater lines and equipment.
• Install taps, meters, hydrants, valves and other appurtenances.
• Repair manholes and operate related machinery and tools.
• Fill out work orders and coordinate with supervisor.
• Follow maps/drawings and ensure safety throughout tasks.
