Job summary

City of Laredo is seeking a maintenance technician to perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on water and sanitary sewer lines, and to oversee equipment used in daily field operations. You will report failures, keep records, and assist in maintaining good communication with staff and the public.

This role requires ability to drive a city vehicle, participate in after-hours on-call, and follow safety procedures while performing physically demanding tasks in various outdoor environments.

Qualifications

• Ability to use gasoline and electrically powered hand tools.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical equipment maintenance manuals.
• Ability to make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs on water and sewer lines and related equipment.
• Maintains and repairs equipment used in daily field operations.
• Reports failures to supervisor and keeps service records.
• Drives city vehicle for city business and participates in after-hours on-call.
