Job summary

The City of Fayetteville is seeking a skilled utility supervisor to manage water and sewer field operations. You will locate lines, install and relocate connections, and use the asset management system to track work orders while coordinating with engineers and contractors.

You must hold essential water distribution licenses and CDL; training and licensure updates are required as part of routine duties. This is a safety-sensitive municipal role with on-site work across city facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with four years of water/sewer crew experience.
• Valid driver’s license; eligible for Class A CDL with tanker (N) within six months.
• Grade I Water Distribution License; ability to obtain Grade III and wastewater license within two years.
• Confined space and trench safety certifications within 2 years.
• Strong communication and ability to read, interpret regulations and plans.

Responsibilities

• Locate water and sewer utilities using maps, equipment, and software.
• Install, relocate, and abandon water and sewer connections for customers and City staff.
• Use asset management to create, complete, and assign work orders.
• Exercise independent judgment for on-site decisions and safety assessments.
• Respond to emergencies to provide information and directions.
• Coordinate projects with City departments, contractors, and suppliers.
• Draw up plan drawings for field crews and ensure proper placement of lines.
• Attend required trainings to maintain licenses.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
