Job summary

The City of Fayetteville is looking for a dedicated Water/Wastewater Maintenance worker to support the city’s water and sewer systems. You will perform mains installation, taps, leak repairs, and on-call duties to ensure continuous service and public safety.

You must have a high school diploma or GED and a CDL-A with tanker endorsement within six months, plus ability to lift heavy loads and work in adverse conditions. This on-site role requires reliability and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and six months of related experience.
• Valid drivers license with Class A CDL and tanker endorsement within six months.
• Available to work evenings and weekends as needed for emergencies or on-call duty.
• Effectively communicate with others orally and in writing.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business materials and regulations; effectively present information to customers and the public.
• Proficiency in use of heavy equipment, light equipment, hand tools, and safety gear preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally; work in loud environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide good customer service to internal and external customers and maintain reliable attendance.
• Gather supplies and equipment for job assignments; fix water and sewer leaks and maintain trucks and equipment.
• Install mains for water and sewer; install taps and repair leaks.
• Be on call 24/7 including holidays; participate in monthly call backs.
• Maintain truck/equipment cleanliness and safety; check oil and fuel levels.
• Drive backhoe and dump truck as required; perform manual labor with shovel.
• Protect public health and safety per water/sewer regulations; perform other duties as assigned.
