Job summary

The City of El Paso is seeking a skilled supervisor to oversee a crew engaged in heavy construction, maintenance and repair of water lines and services, ensuring safe, efficient operations.

Responsibilities include receiving daily work orders, estimating materials, supervising installation of pipes, hydrants, valves, and testing, coordinating with other utilities, and enforcing safety in trenches and confined spaces. This role emphasizes leadership and performance management.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED or higher and 3 years of experience in maintenance, construction, or repair of water lines and mains, including 1 year in a lead capacity.
• Licenses: Texas Class C Driver’s License; Class C Water Operator's License within 18 months of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and participate in medium to heavy construction of water lines and services.
• Receive daily work orders, estimate materials, and arrange delivery of materials and traffic control.
• Identify underground utilities before excavation and coordinate with other utilities.
• Install, maintain, and repair water service lines, hydrants, valves, and lines according to codes and regulations.
• Ensure safety procedures in trenches and confined spaces; supervise staff and manage performance.
