Job summary

The City of El Paso is seeking a skilled supervisor to oversee water line maintenance, construction, and repair projects. Under general supervision, you will lead a crew, assign daily tasks, and coordinate with other utility entities to ensure safe, compliant work on water systems.

You will review work orders, estimate material needs, manage equipment delivery, monitor safety in trenches, and maintain activity logs and reports. Prior lead experience in heavy construction is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or higher and three (3) years of experience in the maintenance, construction, or repair of water lines and mains, including one (1) year in a lead capacity.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, coordinate, and participate in work activities of assigned crew engaged in heavy construction, maintenance and repair of water lines and services.
• Oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of water service lines and related infrastructure, including hydrants and valve work.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed, oversee trenching, traffic control, and equipment operation.
• Receive daily work orders, discuss assignments with supervisor, and prepare equipment and material requirements lists.
• Coordinate with other utility entities and order necessary safety equipment and supplies.
• Prepare activity logs, maintenance reports and client-facing documentation.
• Instruct, guide, and evaluate staff; provide training and discipline as needed.
