Job summary

City of Beloit is seeking an Environmental Technician I or II in the Water Resources Division of the Department of Public Works. The role focuses on identifying, evaluating, preventing, and controlling discharges that could contaminate drinking water, stormwater, and wastewater systems.

The successful candidate will interact with commercial and industrial users regarding pretreatment concerns. The position may be filled at Technician I or II level based on qualifications, with a typical

Qualifications

Associate's degree required for Technician I; Bachelor's degree required for Technician II.
1–2 years of related environmental technician or water resources experience preferred for Tech I.
Three years of related experience required for Tech II.
DNR Wastewater Operator in Training (OIT) certification required within 24 months (Tech I) or possessed (Tech II).
Other combinations of training/experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

Identify, evaluate, prevent, and control discharges that can contaminate water resources.
Serve as the point of contact between the City and commercial users; secondary contact for significant industrial users for pretreatment concerns.
