Job summary

The City of Beloit is seeking a Water Operator for the Water Resources Division of the Public Works Department. The role involves operating and maintaining the water supply production and distribution systems, assisting in pumping stations, storage, and grounds maintenance.

You will perform routine checks, collect water samples, compile data and reports, and handle chemicals. The position includes shift variability and on-call duties, with a schedule currently Mon-Thu 6:00am–3:00pm and Fri

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
• 1–3 years of responsible work experience in operation of a public water system.
• CDL Class B or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
• WDNR Waterworks Operator Certification Grade T - D & G or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• WDNR Waterworks Operator Certification Grade 1 or ability to obtain within eighteen months of hire.
• Other combinations of training/experience that demonstrate the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the public water supply production and distribution systems.
• Assist in maintenance of water system pumping and booster stations, water production and storage system, and related facilities and grounds.
• Perform routine station checks, water sampling as required by WDNR and the utility, data collection and reporting, and handling of chemicals.
• Work variable shifts and participate in a rotation on-call duty schedule for off-hours customer service.
