Job summary

City of Williams is seeking a Water/Wastewater Laborer I to perform skilled and semi-skilled work maintaining water collection, distribution, and wastewater operations, ensuring Safe Drinking Water Act compliance. This role requires handling equipment, readings from turbidimeters and pH probes, and occasional meter servicing.

Applicants must be able to work at heights, in harsh weather, and respond to emergencies, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safety hazards and applicable safety rules in water treatment.
• Some knowledge of laboratory procedures for sampling and testing potable water.
• Aptitude for understanding equipment operation and electrical theory.
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions at height.

Responsibilities

• Maintains municipal water and wastewater systems, including plants and wells.
• Performs preventative and routine maintenance on equipment.
• Monitors instruments and calibrates water treatment devices.
• Responds to emergencies, evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
• Ensures service orders are completed promptly.
