Job summary

City of Wichita is seeking an Engineering Technician I - Utility System Planning in Water Resources to support planning, GIS mapping, field checks, and data management for the city's water infrastructure. You will work with engineers and utility staff to analyze plans, review plats, and assist in development reviews and asset management.

Qualifications

Four years of subprofessional engineering experience or an Associate degree plus two years of experience.
Must possess a valid Kansas Driver's License.
Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Perform computations and calculations for plan preparation and cost estimation.
Review plats and lot splits for easements and main benefit fees.
Advise Subdivision Committee staff.
Quote tap/connection fees and collect payments.
Handle utility information requests via phone.
Conduct field inspections including hydrant flow/pressure tests and site visits.
Maintain GIS layers and asset management data.
Update and verify information in GIS and other systems.
