Job summary

McMillen, Inc. is seeking a Structural Project Engineer with 5–10 years of experience focused on water resource projects. The role covers fisheries, hydropower, dams, flood control, and related infrastructure across the U.S. and Canada. Travel up to 15% is required.

The candidate will perform design, analysis, and documentation, mentor junior staff, and contribute to specifications and project manuals. A PE license is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from an accredited University.
• Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience as a Structural Engineer.
• P.E. licensure a plus.
• Experience with water resource infrastructure including fisheries, hydropower, dams, water conveyance, storm water networks, and pump stations.
• Experience with FEA modeling software such as ABAQUS or ANSYS/LS-DYNA.
• Knowledge of seismic loads analysis and related methods.
• Familiarity with ASCE7, ACI 318 and 350, AISC 360 and 341.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Design Documentation Reports and technical memoranda summarizing project criteria and recommendations.
• Evaluate and apply advanced structural design techniques.
• Perform structural computations by hand and with design software per codes.
• Develop project details and drawings using CAD.
• Edit specifications and assist with Project Manual preparation.
• Support construction-phase services including submittals, RFI responses, and site inspections.
• Develop FEA models and present results to clients.
• Provide design and construction support planning and data collection.
• Mentor other engineering staff.
