Job summary

Arup in San Francisco is offering a Water Engineering Intern position to develop sustainable water engineering solutions across hydrology, water resources and civil infrastructure projects. You will collect data, conduct field investigations, and use ArcGIS or other georeferenced mapping tools to support design, planning and environmental assessments.

You are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Civil or Environmental Engineering or Water Resources Engineering, with competence in engineering

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering or Water Resources Engineering.
• Master’s degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering or Water Resources Engineering preferred.
• Competence with engineering software and technical writing.
• Core understanding of water resources engineering and civil engineering fundamentals.
• Evidence of past engineering internship or extracurricular activity in the field.
• Ability to manage tasks with strong organizational skills under dynamic conditions.

Responsibilities

• Develop sustainable water engineering solutions on a variety of site development and civil infrastructure projects.
• Conduct data collection and field investigations.
• Use ArcGIS or other georeferenced mapping platforms to prepare utility plans or hydrology/hydraulic maps.
• Prepare 1‑D and 2‑D hydrologic and hydraulic models for flood risk assessments and water systems.
• Prepare calculations for water demand, pipe sizing, and rainwater harvesting sizing.
