Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking an intern to support the design department on civil engineering projects, gaining hands‑on experience in programming, schematic design, modeling, and documentation.

The role includes field exposure, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and learning company standards. ABET‑accredited undergrad in civil engineering and familiarity with design software are preferred.

Qualifications

• Full‑time student pursuing an ABET accredited undergraduate degree in civil engineering.
• Coursework in related field; internship or prior experience helpful.
• Familiarity with design and production software to develop project documents.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior leads with basic design tasks, research, simple studies, and layout support.
• Help prepare drawings and documents for programming, schematic design, modeling, and construction.
• Provide input on solutions using basic engineering theories and fundamentals.
• Assist with construction phase activities: site visits, RFI responses, shop drawings, record drawings.
• Follow QC procedures and seek guidance as needed.
• Learn and apply department standards and best practices.
• Develop basic design, analysis, and technical skills through hands‑on experience.
• Participate in team meetings and collaborate with team members.
• Receive guidance from supervisors and team leaders.
• Collaborate with water resources engineers and multidisciplinary team members.
