Job summary

Mountain Regional Water is seeking a civil/environmental engineering intern to gain broad, practical experience with a functioning public water system. The internship blends engineering analysis, fieldwork, system operations, design, and construction experience across the District’s service area.

You will work with the Water Resources engineer and operators on projects such as hydraulic modeling, system capacity, water age, and flushing, plus support major capital projects and sustainability

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in civil, environmental, water resources, or a related field.
• Interest in drinking-water infrastructure and hydraulic modeling.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively in office and field.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with GIS, CAD, hydraulic modeling, or engineering data analysis is helpful but not required.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Learn and maintain a hydraulic model used by the District.
• Assist with water-quality analysis and sustainability projects.
• Support capital projects through design review and field observations.
• Collect field data and prepare maps and technical documentation.
• Work with Water Resources engineers and operators to understand system performance.
• Participate in asset management data collection and maintenance prioritization.
