Job summary

KM Engineering is seeking an experienced Water Resource Engineer focused on Hydraulics & Floodplain Engineering to lead hydrologic analyses and floodplain projects across Idaho and the surrounding region. The role requires FEMA NFIP expertise, mentoring, and strong client communication.

You will manage scopes, budgets, and schedules while coordinating with engineers, planners, surveyors, and environmental professionals to deliver high-quality solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/water resources; PE license preferred.
• 5+ years in hydrology, hydraulics, floodplain management.
• Experience with FEMA regulations and NFIP permitting.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Experience with project management and client relations.
• Experience preparing FEMA map revisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead hydrologic and hydraulic modeling studies.
• Perform floodplain analyses for riverine, bridge, culvert, and watershed projects.
• Develop flood risk assessments, mitigation studies, and watershed plans.
• Prepare drainage studies and floodplain impact evaluations.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead project teams.
• Support business development and client engagement.
• Represent KM Engineering with regulatory agencies and industry groups.
