HMB Professional Engineers, LLC in Lexington, KY seeks a Water Resources Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our Water/Wastewater Department. The role involves assisting in design and analysis of water resource projects, including drinking water and sanitary sewer networks, with opportunities to work across Nashville, Frankfort, Lexington, and Louisville.

Ideal candidates hold a civil engineering degree, have or can obtain an EIT within 6 months, and 0–4 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
• EIT certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• 0-4 years of experience in water resources engineering.
• Familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD is desired.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office is required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Strong verbal, written, interpersonal communication, as well as time management skills

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and analysis of water resource projects, including drinking water and sanitary sewer collection network design.
• Perform hydraulic calculations utilizing computer modeling software and other industry-standard tools.
• Support permitting efforts by preparing technical reports, documentation, and regulatory applications.
• Conduct field investigations, site assessments, and data collection for utility design.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil engineers, environmental specialists, and regulatory agencies.
• Prepare technical drawings, maps, specifications, contract documents, and reports using AutoCAD, GIS, and other relevant software.
• Stay informed about industry regulations, guidelines, and best practices.
