Job summary

Mannik Smith Group is seeking a Water Resources Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) to join the HMB team in Nashville, TN, with opportunities to work in nearby KY locations. The role focuses on design and analysis of water resource projects, hydraulic modeling, and permitting support.

Ideal candidates hold a civil engineering degree, an EIT (or eligibility to obtain within 6 months), and 0–4 years of related experience. A hybrid work schedule and strong teamwork are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• 0–4 years of water resources engineering experience (internships/co-ops applicable).
• Familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD is preferred.
• Basic computer skills and MS Office proficiency.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong initiative to meet client needs and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design and analysis of water resource projects (drinking water, sanitary sewer).
• Perform hydraulic calculations using modeling software.
• Support permitting with technical reports and regulatory applications.
• Conduct field investigations and data collection for utility design.
• Collaborate with civil engineers, environmental specialists, and regulators.
• Prepare drawings, maps, specs, and reports using AutoCAD, GIS, and related tools.
• Stay informed on industry regulations and best practices.
