Job summary

The City of Mesa is seeking a Water Resources Environmental Compliance Supervisor to lead and review the work of staff ensuring regulatory compliance for drinking water systems, reclaimed water, and wastewater facilities. You will formulate policies, oversee inspections, coordinate with regulators, prepare reports, and manage budget-related activities while maintaining safety and public health standards.

Qualifications

• A combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s Degree in Water/Wastewater, Chemistry, or related field.
• Considerable (3 - 5 years) full-time technical experience enforcing or complying with environmental regulations.
• Six months experience in a lead capacity.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and review staff involved with ensuring regulatory compliance for drinking water, reclaimed water, and wastewater systems.
• Oversee regulatory inspections, testing, and safety procedures; review notices, permits, and audits.
• Prepare comprehensive reports, manage budgets, and coordinate contractor bids for equipment and services.
• Provide guidance and coaching to subordinates and managers to ensure regulatory adherence and continuous improvement.
