Job summary

The City of Mesa seeks a Water Resources Environmental Compliance Supervisor to supervise staff, enforce environmental regulations, and ensure adherence to CFR and local codes across drinking water, reclaimed water, and industrial discharges.

This role oversees inspections, reports, and budgeting activities, and requires leadership, HazWoper readiness, and ADEQ-certified credentials. The position may involve 24/7 on-call responsibilities and coordination with public-facing regulatory groups.

Qualifications

• Requires Associate’s Degree in Water/Wastewater, Chemistry, or related field.
• 3–5 years of full-time technical experience enforcing or complying with environmental regulations, including industrial pretreatment.
• Minimum 6 months of lead experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise staff in public outreach and education, including responding to complaints and inquiries.
• Participate in selection, training, and performance evaluation of staff.
• Provide guidance and oversight to subordinates and managers through coaching and monitoring.
• Provide regulatory oversight for capital improvement projects and industrial site projects.
• Track monthly program compliance and prepare comprehensive regulatory reports.
