Job summary

MacKay is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to join our Water Resources team in Fort Collins, CO for 10-12 weeks during the summer of 2027. Candidates should be currently enrolled in a civil engineering or related program, with a preference given to those entering their senior year.

The internship offers hands-on experience across water resources, energy, land development, municipal, mining, and more depending on the region.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled or a recent graduate of an accredited Bachelor of Science degree with major coursework in civil engineering, public works, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent in work experience.
• A minimum GPA of 3.2 is required.
• Hands-on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop practical experience in resolving engineering problems and applying approved methods.
• Review plans and site layouts to ensure compliance with legal and safety requirements.
• Gain hands-on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and contribute to project work.
• Meet deadlines and collaborate in a team environment.
• Assist in preparing designs, specifications, and cost estimates for project portions.
