Job summary

The City of Richmond, Virginia is seeking a Utility Plant Specialist Supervisor in the Storm Water Division. This role supervises maintenance staff at a water purification plant, directing preventive maintenance, emergencies, and vendor coordination.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED with several years in the field, and relevant licenses. The position requires 8-hour shifts, availability for overtime, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; some positions may require an Associates Degree.
• Four years of experience in the assigned area; equivalent training may apply.
• Licensing/certifications as noted (Zone II/III/IV) may be required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise assigned staff and review work orders and maintenance schedules.
• Direct emergency response procedures and preventive maintenance activities.
• Oversee procurement, parts, and test equipment; ensure safety compliance.
• Maintain records, attend vendor demonstrations, and train staff as needed.
• Inspect and supervise field visits and coordinate with vendors/contractors.
• Handle basic administrative duties and payroll-related tasks.

Education
