Job summary

City of Richmond is seeking a Utility Plant Specialist Supervisor in the Storm Water Division. The role supervises staff in mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation areas at a water plant, directing maintenance, vendor coordination, and safety compliance.

The position requires working 8-hour shifts as an essential employee with overtime, including weekends and holidays. Primary duties include scheduling, payroll-related tasks, and proactive maintenance planning to ensure uninterrupted plant

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; some positions may require an Associates Degree
• Four years of experience in the assigned area
• An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification

Responsibilities

• Assigns preventive and repair maintenance jobs by work order and established maintenance schedules
• Approves work requests and reviews existing open work orders for status and priority based on needs of the division and plant
• Troubleshoots unscheduled equipment outages and other problems encountered by assigned unit; assists with special and emergency situations
• Performs basic administrative duties such as checking time sheets and submitting payroll documents; ordering parts and supplies; responding to phone calls and emails
• Meets with vendors and contractors, attends vendor demonstrations, contractor equipment training sessions, and meets with public as necessary
• Supervises assigned staff ensuring all assigned activities are performed safely and trains staff as necessary
