Job summary

Metropolitan Utilities District is seeking a Water Plant Operator to operate and monitor plant equipment, perform routine water tests, and maintain detailed logs at the Florence Water Plant in Omaha.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, Nebraska Grade IV Water Operator License (or eligibility within 180 days), and experience with potable water treatment and SCADA systems. Rotating 8- or 12-hour shifts are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience operating or maintaining a potable water treatment plant or distribution system with Nebraska Grade IV license, or
• Minimum 3 years of operational experience and license within 180 days, or
• Minimum 6 years in building operations/maintenance with license within 180 days.

Responsibilities

• Operate pumps, basins, chemical feeders and related equipment.
• Test water samples and perform lab tests; record results and adjust processes.
• Control plant via SCADA; perform manual operations if SCADA fails.
