Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1+ year related experience.
• Must possess Virginia Class III Water license for Waterworks and Wastewater Works.
• Ability to operate SCADA system to monitor/control plant and system functions.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work safely and follow safety rules.
• Ability to read and interpret maps, drawings, and schematics.
• Willingness to work on-call or varied shifts.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains water production and distribution system.
• Operates SCADA system to monitor and control water plant and system functions.
• Makes periodic rounds of plant to ensure proper operation of processes.
• Measures chemical feed rate and calculates dosages.
• Checks and calibrates process instrumentation.
• Operates pumps, valves and sluice gates.
• Performs routine water quality tests and maintains test records.
• Keeps logs of plant operations and maintenance activities.
