Job summary

Pinellas County Public Works - Environmental Management seeks a Water and Navigation Permitting Specialist I to support the Water and Navigation Section. You will handle permitting intake, data entry in Accela, and fee processing for dock, dredge, and fill applications, ensuring records are complete and requests are addressed.

The role requires strong customer service, attention to detail, and ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including citizens and contractors.

Qualifications

• Education as described: degree in business, public administration, finance, information technology, or related field.
• Experience includes developing, planning, and conducting programs with at least one year in lead worker, trainer, or supervisor roles.
• Experience or equivalent combination described in the posting.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service regarding Water and Navigation permits requirements and application status via various media.
• Input, verify, and update permit data in the Accela database.
• Verify and assess fees, create invoices, and collect fees related to permitting.
• Process approved plans for issuance and issue permitted plans after fees and requirements are met.
• Verify and maintain records of contractors’ licensing and insurance requirements.
• Assist management with responding to public records requests.
