Job summary

Pinellas County is seeking a Marine Safety Coordinator to manage waterway marker programs, derelict vessel removal, and coordination with federal, state, and local agencies. The role supports navigation safety and environmental protection for Pinellas County waterways.

You will supervise contracts, maintain inventories, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements while working outdoors and on the water.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining and permitting marine structures and ensuring compliance with federal/state laws.
• Degree with major in physical, natural, or biological science, environmental engineering, or related field.
• Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License and ability to work varied schedules.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the waterway marker program (UWM) including permitting, inspections, data management, and compliance with regulations.
• Manage the PAToN program of day beacons and buoys with similar regulatory duties.
• Oversee Derelict Vessel Removal contracts and coordinate marine contractors for markers and navigation aids.
• Represent the County at federal/state/local marine meetings and liaise with agencies.
