Job summary

The Town of Little Elm is seeking a Water Meter Technician to support the Public Works Department in installing, reading, and maintaining water meters. You will manage readings (AMR/AMI), document activities, and assist with billing data in the Financial Management System.

Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, with strong English communication and the ability to work independently or in a team, ensuring accurate meter data and timely service for residents.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, with six months of related experience.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License.
• Ability to acquire grade D water certification within 12 months.
• Work Zone Safety Certification within 12 months.
• Fluent reading, writing, and speaking English; good communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Install, replace, and upgrade water meters per Town standards.
• Perform routine and special meter readings using AMR/AMI systems; ensure accuracy.
• Operate and troubleshoot meter reading systems and software platforms.
• Document meter activities and update customer accounts in the FM System.
• Maintain meter inventory and oversee storeroom organization and stock.
• Coordinate with vendors and FM System support to resolve issues.
• Handle monthly billing cycle tasks, including disconnections and reconnections.
• Communicate with customers and internal teams to resolve inquiries.
