Job summary

The City of Abilene is seeking a Meter Worker I/II to perform maintenance, testing and repair of water meters and AMI components, including MTUs, boxes and related infrastructure. You will operate a city vehicle to sites, document work, and respond to customer inquiries with attention to accuracy and safety.

Experience requirements range from six months for Meter Worker I with a high school diploma to more, with licensing requirements including a Texas driver’s license and a D Water License

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Texas driver’s license; ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on 5/8” to 2” water metering devices and related infrastructure.
• Investigate customer complaints related to meter accuracy and integrity.
• Perform water service turn on/off for individual accounts at the meter.
• Investigate and address illegal water usage at meter locations.
• Record locations and details of all work performed; communicate status to team and customers.
