Job summary

The City of Smyrna is hiring a Meter Services Technician to operate, maintain, and verify the City’s water metering system. Responsibilities include reading meters, installing and testing AMI equipment, resolving irregular readings, and assisting customers with water service concerns.

This full-time role requires at least a high school diploma and more than one year of water/sewer experience, a valid Class C Georgia driver's license, and the ability to work after-hours emergencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• More than one year of water/sewer-related experience.
• Valid Class C Georgia driver’s license.
• Able to pass background, credit, motor vehicle checks, drug screening, and physical.

Responsibilities

• Read, install, test, and replace water meters and AMI equipment.
• Connect and disconnect water service at the meter per procedures.
• Investigate irregular readings, leaks, and high usage.
• Troubleshoot AMI communication and data transmission issues.
• Provide professional customer service and explain meter-related concerns.
