Job summary

Freeport‑McMoRan Inc. is offering a 2027 Summer Internship in Water Management Process Engineering (TCLW) with a Hybrid work model in the Phoenix area. The intern will assist with water systems modeling, data collection and reporting under supervision, preparing analyses and presentations for site teams.

The program targets full‑time students or recent graduates; housing/travel assistance is available, and visa sponsorship may be considered. May–August internships with paid status.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled full-time at a four-year university or recent graduate within 12 months, pursuing an engineering degree.
• Foundational coursework in engineering math, fluid mechanics, hydrology, hydraulics or environmental/process engineering.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to organize/analyze data, perform engineering calculations, document assumptions/results.
• Strong written and verbal communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to safety and ability to work in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Support site water systems, water balance modeling, water resources, and process water management.
• Assist with data collection, analysis, field verification, reporting, and improvement projects.
• Assist with water balance models development, calibration, and review.
• Evaluate process water circuits and opportunities to improve water efficiency.
• Participate in field inspections and verification of water infrastructure and data sources.
• Prepare calculations, figures, dashboards, technical summaries, and presentations.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, environmental, metallurgical, and engineering teams.
