Job summary

Core & Main, based in St. Louis, is seeking an Outside Sales Representative to support water, wastewater, and critical infrastructure projects across municipal and private sectors.

The role emphasizes field engagement, technical aptitude, and managing projects from pre-bid design through delivery. You will build relationships with municipalities, engineers, and contractors, coordinate complex material takeoffs, and collaborate with internal teams on quotes and design-build packages.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of outside sales experience in waterworks, civil, mechanical, or distribution.
• Experience supporting large infrastructure projects (water/wastewater treatment).
• Strong technical aptitude; civil engineering background is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specs, and material lists.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex scopes and multiple phases.

Responsibilities

• Manage project workloads for treatment plant and critical infrastructure projects.
• Present customer-provided material lists and complete bill-of-material packages.
• Coordinate multistage shipments to align with construction schedules.
• Provide product recommendations, technical clarifications, and system-level solutions.
• Develop relationships with engineering firms, public agencies, and major developers.
• Attend industry events and trade shows to expand presence and pipeline.
