Job summary

City of Austin’s Austin Water department seeks a licensed Professional Engineer to provide engineering, project delivery, and technical support for water and wastewater infrastructure. You will oversee contractors, review plans, establish scope, and make engineering recommendations for pump stations, reservoirs, and treatment plants.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering and four years of experience, Texas P.E. license (or eligibility to obtain within six months).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with four years of engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Texas or ability to obtain within six months.
• Experience with design, construction, and inspection of public water or wastewater infrastructure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Designs, plans, and oversees work in civil engineering projects for water infrastructure.
• Develops cost estimates and feasibility reports for projects.
• Prepares contract documents, specifications, and plans; coordinates with contractors and agencies.
• Writes technical specifications for construction contracts.
• Reviews plans and submittals for compliance with specifications.
• Performs field inspections and ensures safety and standards.
• Develops SOPs, policies, and standardized practices.
• Provides analysis and recommends performance improvements.
